STAFF & SESSION

REVEREND PASTOR
PETER KIM

Lead Pastor

Reverend Peter Kim (M. Div., Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) is an ordained minister in the KAPC, serving as a teaching elder and lead pastor of QPEM. After working as an engineer for seven years, he left the corporate world behind to answer God's calling to ministry. He enjoys playing ice hockey with his boys and rooting for his favorite sports teams (especially the NY Rangers, Yankees, NY Giants, and his beloved GT Yellow Jackets!). He is married to Cathy and father to Caleb, Luke, and Selah. His hope for QPEM is that it would be a place where Christ is exalted, where our members grow and mature in faith, and where we can grow and serve together as a household of God, for His glory.

RICHARD HAN

Associate Pastor

Richard (M. Div., Westminster Theological Seminary) is the associate pastor at QPEM and primarily oversees the Young Adult ministry (18-35 years old). He graduated from the University of Michigan (go Blue) where he met his wife and received his call to full-time ministry. After graduating from seminary, he served full-time as a children’s pastor until coming to QPEM in 2020, where he has served since. He enjoys golf, playing video games, and eating. He is married to Hahyun and is father to Constance. His hope for QPEM is that we would become a church that submits to and reveres the Word of God above all things and that our members would truly view our church as a family that God has brought together.

JOSHUA WOO

Pastoral Intern

Josh is the pastoral intern at QPEM, which he first started serving in 2021. He is currently undergoing his fourth and final year at Westminster Theological Seminary and hopes to graduate in the summer of 2025. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging around good company and stays active through golf and volleyball. His hope for QPEM is that we would be — with ever-increasing faithfulness, who we are called to be — a bride and a body who meditates on God’s Word day and night, who demonstrates the love of Christ to one another, and who seeks to glorify and enjoy.

SYMONG CHOI

Elder

Symong (“Sy” for short”) is a member of the KAPCQ session, serving as a ruling elder of QPEM, which he attended since birth (unspecified). He works as a pediatric physical therapist, specializing in serving children with cerebral palsy. He enjoys most sports (especially football) and being outdoors. He is a big believer in people challenging themselves to reach new limits in order to experience the beauty of God’s creation of mankind. He actively supports the Minnesota Vikings (especially the Purple People Eaters), T-Wolves, and the Twins. He is married to Aeri and father to Ryan, Charlotte, and Chloe. His hope for QPEM is that our church will be pleasing to God and that all that come through our doors will find a place where they feel loved and accepted and will want to stay until the day God and only God calls them elsewhere.

DAVID SHIN

Elder

David is a member of the KAPCQ session, serving as a ruling elder of QPEM, which he attended since 1999. He works as a general surgeon. Growing up in California, David is a devout Lakers fan (according to him, “the best franchise in basketball”) but since moving to NY has become a Giants fan. He also grew up playing video games (but hasn’t played for a while). He is married to Eunha and is father to Zachariah, Elijah, Joshua, Josiah, and Karisella. His hope for QPEM is that it would thrive and grow as a whole, being selfless and always looking toward what's best for the Kingdom of God rather than for each individual ministry. He would also love to see more support going into outreach and missions in the future.

TAE HYUN WHANG

Elder

Tae is a member of the KAPCQ session, serving as a ruling elder of QPEM, which he attended QPEM as early as the mid-90’s. After graduating from Binghamton University, he currently works as an attorney. In his free time, he enjoys playing a “little” golf. He is married to Jenny and father to David, Jacob, and Nolan. His hope for QPEM is that it will be a place where generations will be able to worship God and grow closer to Him.

JAY YOUN

Elder

Jay is a member of the KAPCQ session, serving as a ruling elder of QPEM, which he began attending as early as 1996. His field of work can only be specified as “financial services.” He enjoys BBQs, cycling, golf, and spending time with friends and family. He especially enjoys serving with the members of QPEM and watching God’s plan unfold. He is married to Dory and father to Faith, Simon, and James. His hope for QPEM is that it would continue to be a community and missional church as our members pursue their purpose in this world and allow God’s glory to shine through them.
